The period of Covid and lockdown has been so difficult on so many levels, one of the hardest parts I found was to try and control my vices. From the period of November through to April, it was a hard decision deciding which one of my guilty pleasures took the edge off the monotony of lockdown and Winter in the UK.
Having made great progress in regards to my fitness pre-covid, I was determined not to let this go to waste while being locked down and having no access to gyms. The easy ‘go to’ to make the evenings more enjoyable would have been alcohol but I knew this would really have a detrimental effect mentally and physically.
This led me to experiment with Cannabis/THC edibles, easily ordering them from Instagram and quickly delivered. These definitely took the edge off the evening, making me feel a lot more relaxed and at first, they also helped me sleep each evening. However, as lockdown wore on, my dosage of edibles was increasing and this was certainly affecting the quality of sleep each night. While in normal circumstances THC can help you fall asleep, due to the excess dosage, this resulted in finding it extremely hard to fall asleep each night, often getting into bed at 11pm but not falling asleep until close to 2am.
Around this time, Green Stem launched a new addition to their product range ‘Green Stem CBD Oil – Sleep Night Time Tincture’. To test the product, I assured myself I never mixed the product with one of my THC edibles so I could trial accurately.
The Green Stem Night-Time Tincture comes with 15mg of CBD, amongst other ingredients proven to help gain a good night sleep and CBD has been proven to help with REM.
- Vitamin B6 – 25mg
- Valerian Root Extract – 25mg
- Hops Extract – 30mg
- Broad Spectrum CBD – 15mg
- Magnesium – 4mg
- Zinc – 5mg
- 5-HTP – 5mg
- L Tryptophan – 5mg
It is recommended you take one full pipette of the CBD Oil and hold it underneath your tongue for 2 minutes, 45 minutes before you go to sleep. The flavour of ‘Green Stem CBD Oil – Sleep Night Time Tincture’ is quite strong and tastes similar to a Hubba Bubba bubble gum. The reason for this is to mask the key ingredients of the product which would otherwise create a very metallic taste.
Having administrated my first dosage at 11pm, I headed to bed around 45 minutes later. In total it took me 20 minutes to fall asleep, which was extremely better than I had been experiencing previously. My night’s sleep was solid and I managed a good 8 hours, waking up better than I had done previously.
While I didn’t use the CBD Oil to help me sleep every night, I did lean towards it a couple of nights each week and certainly felt it was aiding the quality of my night’s rest when in use.
