They’re amongst the most trusted CBD products in the world, but how did that happen, what products are they known for, and can you get Charlotte’s Web CBD Oil in the UK?

In this article, we’ll answer some of the most important questions about Charlotte’s Web CBD, offering the insights you need to know about this industry-leading CBD brand.

Who is ‘Charlotte’s Web’, how did it come to prominence?

Charlotte’s Web Hemp Oil was developed by the Stanley Brothers, who started outbreeding for the medical cannabis industry, and in 2009 they began producing a high-CBD cannabis strain and is now considered one of the world’s most trusted hemp brands delivering high-quality products.

After meeting Charlotte Figi, a child who was experiencing hundreds of seizures a month by the age of three, they began developing Charlotte’s Web hemp oils, distilling them into effective tinctures. Charlotte Figi needed high-CBD, low-THC hemp extract to control her seizures, which were reduced to once a week or month after taking Charlotte’s Web.

The only reported side effects were potential dizziness and nausea. Following the high profile care of Charlotte Figi, and their charity work with children, the Stanley brothers have become the Robin Hood of the marijuana industry after making it their mission to provide affordable CBD Oil options to those who need it most.

In the words of the brothers, “We are driven by principles that extend far beyond the bottom line. It is our goal to provide products of the highest possible quality while contributing to the sustainability of the communities we have the privilege of serving.”

Where did the name ‘Charlotte’s Web’ come from?

It’s an amalgamation – a homage to Charlotte Figi’s experience with the product and the hemp’s web-like appearance. The brother’s CBD Oil project was memorialized in 2012 and has led to the development of several other strains with low enough THC levels that are categorised as industrial hemp and are therefore legal in the US.

Where is the brand based?

The Charlotte’s Web strain of marijuana that developed into a world-leading industrial hemp-based CBD product was created on a farm owned by the Stanley brothers in Colorado.

How are the CW CBD products produced?

The brothers have over 25 years of combined experience in the industry, and the products they produce are closely monitored from seed to the final bottled product. They focus on best practices for the sustainability of the community and only accept the highest standards of quality when it comes to producing their CB Oil range.

Hemp products produced under the CW brand contain Charlotte’s Web CBD extract that undergoes lab testing to ensure that they are rich in CBD, and only the best of the harvest industrial hemp crop is used.

The products follow strict FDA guidelines, yield to California’s Prop 65 regulations and are compliant with EPA standards to ensure that the products are consistently high quality. All products are 100% vegetarian, gluten-free and non-GMO.

What is Charlotte’s Web strain?

CW CBD is a variety of cannabis that came into being through selective breeding. It has less than 0.3% THC, making it legal in the US and ideal for people who are wanting the benefits of CBD without the high.

What products do they create?

CBD Oil

Charlotte’s Web full-spectrum hemp extract contains CBD, CBC, CBG, and other beneficial phytocompounds. They’re available in 4 flavours: Mint Chocolate, Olive Oil, Orange Blossom and Lemon Twist; and in different concentrations from 17mg/1ml to 60mg/1ml.

CBD Liquid Capsules

The perfect fit for CBD lovers, Charlottes Web’s new liquid capsules are made from the goodness of nature and come in a convenient capsule form. Charlotte’s Web CBD offers the choice of two different types of CBD capsule strengths: either 15mg or 25mg.

CW put a lot of time and effort into making sure that their CBD capsules are as clean as possible for your convenience. Made with hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), they are a cleaner vegan option compared to other soft gel CBD capsules sold by other CBD brands.

CBD Gummies

There are three different types of gummies depending on what you need, choose from “Calm”, “Sleep”, and “Recovery”. Their CBD Gummies contain genetics that are rich in cannabinoids like cannabidiol (CBD), which has been shown as effective and has many benefits without abuse or diversion issues associated with other types of medication such as THC found present within marijuana plants.

Each product is carefully crafted from start ( cultivate ) to finish ( manufacture ).

CBD for Dogs

Charlotte’s Web has a wide range of products available for dogs. Options include full-spectrum hemp extract drops, calming chews, chews for hips and joints, chews for senior dogs, and canine hemp-infused balm.

Unfortunately, for those of us based in the UK, these are not legal under the guidelines set by the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) unless you have a prescription.

Are Charlottes Web CBD Products Sold In The UK?

If Charlotte’s Web has such a good reputation, what is it not available in the UK? We asked the team at Charlotte’s Web, and their answer was, “CBD is legal in the UK as long as it contains 0.2% of THC our products contain 0.3% THC or less as that’s what’s allowed in the US.” This means that, unless the laws change in the UK, Charlotte’s Web is not legal and won’t be available in the UK for the foreseeable future.

To triple check, we reached out to the CTA (Cannabis Trades Association) to ask for their opinion and found that Charlotte’s Web can’t be made available in the UK because it breaches the 1mg rule of the MoDR. What is the 1mg rule? This is the amount of THC per container, regardless of how large or small the container is. The ruling applies because THC (along with cannabinol) is a ‘controlled drug’ as defined under the MoDR (Misuse of Drugs Regulations). Further to this, the UK’s MDA of 1971 is clear that there is “no ‘acceptable’ level of THC in non-prescription cannabis-based products ‘off the shelf’ without prescription.”

And what about the rest of Europe? To find out more about the availability of Charlotte’s Web throughout the rest of Europe, we got in touch with Heidi’s Garden, an online store based in Zurich, who is the official EU supplier of Charlotte’s Web Hemp Products. They confirmed that they ship all Charlotte’s Web products that contain less than 0.3% THC to all countries in Europe with the exception of Sweden and the UK) and it’s legal.

It seems that, for the immediate future, CBD users in the UK aren’t going to be able to purchase Charlotte’s Web products in the near future. But if you’re living elsewhere in the EU, you can order online and have their range delivered to your door. It’s a pity that the elevated THC levels prohibit the sale of Charlotte’s Web in the UK as the ethos and quality of the products speak for themselves.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
