What Is The Best Dosage For CBD?

The ideal dose of CBD very often depends on you as an individual and why you have decided to use these products to improve your life. When looking at your perfect dose, you need to consider a number of factors, including how your body responds to CBD, the reasons why you are using it and the concentration of CBD in your product of choice.

Don’t worry!

You are safe to try different doses and variants as you can’t overdose on CBD. If you wish to, you can consult your doctor for advice on how much CBD to use. This information can help you find the perfect dose and product, helping you smoothly along your journey.

Some products, such as CBD gummies, capsules, or pills, tell you how much CBD is in a single serving. For example, the packaging on a bottle of CBD capsules might indicate that there is 5 mg of CBD per capsule. If you’re using oils, it will likely come in a dropper bottle. The packaging should tell you how much CBD is in each pipette. From there, you can figure out how many drops you need to use.

It’s best to start with a smaller dosage and gradually increase. It is always recommended for you to start with a low concentration of CBD. You can begin using 500mg CBD Oil drops, taking 1 full pipette 2 – 3 times a day. From there, you can use higher potency options that are available (1000mg – 2000mg), but use the same amount of product. A higher potency product means that there is more CBD administered in each pipette.

CBD is a safe, natural way to manage your wellness and, if you have any questions, you can always speak to your doctor to help guide you on your CBD journey.

CBD Frequently Asked Questions

There is a lot of confusion surrounding CBD Products and the Cannabis industry. ‘The CBD Supplier’ hopes to answer some of the most commonly asked questions regarding CBD Oil and Cannabis in general. Check out our blog area which has more up to date information regarding the industry

Are CBD oil, hemp, and other CBD products legal in the UK?

While everyone knows that cannabis is illegal in the UK, few people make the distinction between it and hemp. Hemp is a plant in the same family of plants as cannabis but is different and separate. It’s also legal in the UK, however, a license is required in order to grow it and one must also follow strict instructions its use.

Most CBD oil in the UK comes entirely from hemp and, as such, is completely legal. However, it has to be proven that the CBD oil comes from an industrial hemp strain and not a marijuana plant. Furthermore, there has to be fewer than 0.2% THC present in the oil.

CBD oil is not the only kind of CBD product that’s legal in the UK, either. There are CBD gummies, CBD vape juices, CBD capsules, and CBD sprays. So long as they all have less than 0.2% of THC present, they are all entirely legal.

What is the difference between THC and CBD?

Some people are surprised to find out that CBD oil and other products derived from hemp are, in fact, legal. However, it’s often these people who aren’t aware of what CBD and THC are, the differences in them, and how present they are in hemp and marijuana. Both CBD and THC are cannabinoids, compounds that occur naturally in the plants and interact with receptors found in the brain.

The primary difference between CBD and THC is that THC is psychoactive, and CBD is not. As such, THC will cause the sensation of feeling “high” while CBD will not. This is partly why CBD is legal, but so long as there isn’t enough THC content to make the oil psychoactive. Hemp plants and CBD oil have minimal THC content.

There are other differences, too. The compounds affect different receptors in the endocannabinoid system and are known to cause different effects. However, the psychoactive nature of THC is also what makes it more prone to causing side effects and some believe it to be easy to abuse.

How long does CBD last?

CBD generally stays in your system for 2 – 5 days, but this can be longer, and varies between people. Your frequency of use, body chemistry, and the food you eat may affect how long the cannabinoid stays in your system.

Will CBD get me high or stoned?

The short answer is: no, CBD oil will in no way get you stoned or high. CBD oil does not contain enough THC, or Tetrahydrocannabinol, to get you high. THC is the psychoactive component present in cannabis-family plants that causes that high. In hemp, this THC is at a much lower level than it would be in marijuana. In legal CBD oil products sold in the UK, there is less than 0.2% THC in the entire product. This is nowhere near enough to get you high, no matter how much of a dose you intend to take.

However, the lack of THC does not mean that CBD oil has no impact whatsoever. CBD, like THC, is a cannabinoid, which means it interacts with receptors in the nervous system and throughout the body that causes the release of neurotransmitters like melatonin. While this doesn’t get you high, it can have a range of effects. People regularly take CBD oil for relief, to manage stress and anxiety, to improve sleep, and even to reduce the severity and frequency of seizures.

Why we cannot make medical claims (Medical/Cosmetic)

Marijuana and CBD have a long history of being banned substances, which means that little research has been done on the plant’s healing properties. It is in more recent years, with CBD being made legal, that researchers have started looking into the positive effects of CBD. There is still much research to be done.

Additionally, CBD can help with symptoms like pain and anxiety but is not a suitable replacement for precription medication. Legally, you can only make medical claims about CBD if it has clinical trials to back it up, and the product needs to be approved for sale as a medical product.

If you feel that you may have a medical condition, it is vital that you seek help from a medical professional. Your doctor or specialist can also advise on which CBD products you can use alongside your treatment plan.

For cosmetic products, the requirements are different. Cosmetic products are about improving the appearance or smell of something, cleaning it, or changing its colour – which is a much more superficial thing.

Why doesn't CBD work for me?

CBD may not work for everyone, but there are some reasons why CBD could, but it is currently not, working for you. These reasons include:

  • Dose: You need to make sure that you are using the correct dose.
  • Time: Your body takes time to absorb CBD products. It would help if you used CBD consistently for a period of a few weeks to see the effects.
  • Brand: It is vital that you use CBD products that are produced by a reputable source.
  • Try alternatives: CBD comes in various forms and potencies; it is good to try various types to see what works best for you.

While many people report a positive reaction to CBD products, they may not be for everyone. If you see no effects from regular CBD use, consult a medical professional to help you find the correct dose and method of delivery for you.

Can I drive while using CBD Oil?

Driving while using CBD Oil is legal.

As everyone is different, people taking CBD oil need to be aware of how the compound affects them personally. Be it drowsiness, headaches, nausea. While CBD oil isn’t illegal and classed as safe to use for drivers. If you find yourself experiencing any unwanted side effects after taking CBD oil, it may be worth experimenting with your dosage or the timing of your dosage and avoid driving until you have found a safe balance.

Can CBD help my insomnia and sleeping better?

Research is showing that CBD has both a direct and indirect effect on sleep. It has a direct regulating action on your sleep cycles as well as alleviating other conditions (such as anxiety and discomfort), which also helps to promote restful sleep. Further research is still needed, although the results from animal studies show promising results.

Is CBD Bud/Flower Legal in the UK?

It is interesting to note that industrial hemp is not exempt from the Misuse of Drugs Act of 1971, this being the plant from which CBD is extracted. The plant components that aren’t controlled are the stems, stalk and seeds, separated from the mature plant. The rest is classified as cannabis and, therefore, considered a Class B drug. This is irrespective of whether it is hemp or marijuana and includes the flower/bud no matter the THC level. In the EU, however, the use of hemp flowers is permitted.

And, although CBD that is derived from hemp is legal in this country, it is always advisable to purchase CBD products from a reputable source, to ensure that it meets the legal requirements in the UK.

Endocannabinoid System Explained

The endocannabinoid system moderates your central nervous system’s function. Your brain and organs contain natural cannabinoid (CB) receptors. This complex nerve cell signalling system helps your body to sustain homeostasis, which is the state of equilibrium in the body. By doing so, it assists with organ function and physiological, cognitive, and emotional stability. This includes managing the product’s response to your appetite and digestion, sleep quality, mood, level of pain and inflammation, and memory.

2 Commonly Known Types of Endocannabinoid Receptors

CB1: These are mainly found in the body’s central nervous system.

CB2: Mostly found in your peripheral nervous system, particularly your immune cells. These are the parts of your nervous system that are located outside of your brain and spinal cord.

Endocannabinoids (cannabinoids that occur naturally within the body) bind to both receptors. The resulting effect will depend on where the receptor is in your body and which endocannabinoid it binds to. Endocannabinoids, for example, may target CB1 receptors in a spinal nerve, relieving back pain. Others might attach to a CB2 receptor in your immune cells, indicating inflammation, a common sign of autoimmune diseases.

Extracts of the cannabis plant, like those used in CBD products, work similarly to naturally produced endocannabinoids, supporting the work of your endocannabinoid system. In simple terms, humans have a separate receptor system for cannabinoids, which responds to both endocannabinoids (produced by your body) and phytocannabinoids (produced by industrial hemp). This is why CBD can help you in various ways, including dealing with anxiety, sleep, and concentration.
